World: 2 Children Among 11 Electrocuted In Tamil Nadu Temple Chariot Procession
No less than 11 individuals kicked the bucket and 15 others were harmed after electric shock during a chariot parade at a sanctuary in Tamil Nadu's Thanjavur region early today, police said.
Police said the episode happened when the sanctuary cart or sanctuary vehicle they were remaining on came into contact with a high-transmission line at Appar sanctuary in Kalimedu.
"The sanctuary cart confronted some hindrance while taking a transform when it came into contact with the upward line," authorities said.
Two among those killed were kids, authorities said, adding that the harmed have been confessed to the close by clinic for treatment.
"A case has been enlisted regarding this situation and examination is in progress," said V Balakrishnan, Inspector General of Police, Central Zone, Tiruchirappalli.
A senior police official let NDTV know that ordinarily power line along the sanctuary vehicle course is switched off to stay away from any inappropriate episode.
"Nonetheless, the cart was not sufficiently tall to contact the high-transmission line, and hence the power supply was not switched off this time. However, it appears to be the beautifying structure expanded its level, and subsequently, it came into contact with the live wire," the authority said.
A video of the occurrence shows the chariot was totally obliterated in the wake of coming into contact with the live wire.
